MOON AND ITS ATTRIBUTES (KARAKATWAM)

Jyotisham/Astrology is a Pratyaksha Sastra.  Sun and Moon makes this Vedic Limb a Pratyaksha Sastra where results are demonstrable from actual happenings which are evident and obvious.

apratyakshaani sastraani vivaadasteshu kevalam
pratyaksham jyotisham sastram chandraarko yatra saakshino
Apratyaksha Sastra is only speculative, being provable only by theorizing and discussions. Jyotisham is a Pratyaksha Shastra as Surya and Chandra are its witness.

Why Sun and Moon are called visual proof for above?  It is a fact that a Tithi (a lunar day) is calculated from the relative distance between Chandra and Surya, as viewed on the celestial equator.  Anyone can see Sun and Moon from earth and their relative distance (in degrees) can be measured by Spherical Trigonometry.

Moon is given at par importance with Lagnam (Ascendant).  Moon’s strength plays important role in giving strength to all planets.

Strength of Chandra is the strength of seed of all planets.

Chandra is Queen in the planetary cabinet (a female planet, denotes mother, fourth sign in the zodiac representing mother).

Astrology and Human life

Everyone in this Universe is unique. They have different needs, thoughts and different ways of life.

You need to perform two types of actions to accomplish anything in the world (wealth, health, success, career, goal, aim, mission etc.). One is visible action and another is invisible action. For example, for a person aiming for success in exams, his visible action is the effort that goes into his studies and invisible action is his connection with The Supreme or in other words God’s blessings (derived through prayers, meditation, religious activities, remedies for previous karma etc.).

SUN AND ITS ATTRIBUTES (KARAKATWAM)

Approximately five thousand years back, ancient sages with their naked eyes and yoga powers discovered that all the planets in our solar system revolve around Sun (before the modern world discovered it with modern equipment) and that life on earth is sustained by Sun.

This is the reason why Sun is called the karaka of AAatma (Soul) as well as AAatma bala (self confidence).  It is imperative to know here that Surya is called the Soul of Kaalapurusha (time personified) - Kaalaatma (Text - Jataka Paarijatam).

Bhagavad-Gita, which is the essence of the Hindu philosophy and was told to Arjuna by Lord Krishna himself, says:

वेदाविनाशिनं नित्यं य एनमजमव्ययं
कथं स पुरुष: पार्था कं खातयति हन्ति कम्

vedävinäçinaà nityaà ya enamajamavyayam|
kathaà sa puruñaù pärtha kaà ghätayati hanti kam|

O Partha (Arjuna), one who knows this soul as indestructible, unborn and incapable of getting lost, who does he kill by whom and whom does he kill? (One who knows that true state of Aatma is aware that no one can kill the Aatma nor does the Aatma kill anyone).

Surya is addressed by different names in ancient texts: -
Ravi, Aaditya, Bhaskar, Ahaskar, Tapan, PUshaa, Aruna, Arka, Adri, Vanajavanapati, Dinamani, NalinIvilasI, PadminIsha, Diwaakar, MartaNDa, USNarashmi, USNaaMshu, Prabhaakar, Vibhaavasu, Kshapaakara etc.
