SIMHAM / LEO (MEDICAL)

SIMHAM / LEO (Makam, Purvaphalguni, Uttraphalguni 1)

Leo persons have great vital energy, and will not readily succumb to disease. The Leo usually puts up a brave fight to overcome without calling upon others for help, but when he gives up, he is usually very sick; yet he recovers rapidly.  His pride will not permit him as a rule to become a charge upon others.  Being a positive sign the greatest handicap to the Leo is impulse.  A Leo person does everything with a very great amount of energy, which is detrimental to the health of the parts of the body ruled by this vital sign: the heart, aorta, vena cava, dorsal region of the spine, and the spinal cord.

The sun, which is the life giver, rules Leo and the vital etheric fluid coming through the spleen, which is the gateway of the solar forces.  Those born with this sign rising are very vital and full of force, especially if the sun is also in Leo; but by the destructive use of their surplus energy they are often afflicted with heart trouble of various kinds as also spinal troubles.

They are also prone to dental problems, acidity, gastro problems, jaundice, ulcer etc.

MESHAM / ARIES (MEDICAL)

ARIES - Aswathi, Bharani, Krithika (1)

Aries rules over the head.  Aries people are  impulsive and aggressive.   They acts and speaks quickly.  They get angry very quickly and also ready to forgive quickly.

Aries rules the cerebral hemispheres of the brain, the upper jaw, the eyes, and the face.  Aries is hot, dry, and inflammatory.  Aries people with a slight cold or disturbance of health may have a very high temperature.  Considering planetary afflictions, these people are subject to brain fever, dizziness, nosebleed, neuralgia, inflammation of the cerebral hemispheres, and diseases of the brain and face.

They are also prone to fever and headache frequently.

A note on Prasna Margam

To the ancient astrological literature of the Hindus traced to Sage Parasara there belong a certain number of complementary works without whose assistance, the student of astrology may not be able to understand the deeper implications of the subject.

Prasna Margam may be considered as one such work. It is an exhaustive treatise on the various aspects of Prasnam or Horary astrology.  This work can be considered as of exceptional interest and value.  The authorship of the work is attributed to a Namboodiri Brahmin of Kerala, written in Kollam 825 (1649 AD) in a place called Edakad near Talasseri. It appears that at that time our author had an opponent by name Easwara Deekshitar living in Chola country.

Another great disciple of the author was Mochhattiloyit, a well-known personality in Kerala in those days.  Kerala Varma was also a great astrologer. Kerala Varma's disciple Punnasseri Nambi Neelakanta Sarma wrote a commentary in Sanskrit. The topic of the work, though called Prasna Marga, covers almost the entire range of the subject: Jataka or predictive astrology, muhurtha or electional astrology, parihara or remedial astrology and nimittas or the science of omens. Here we have, essentially a work that touches some of the most important aspects of life — longevity, death, disease etc. The value of the work is unmistakable.  It not only endorses the ancient principles of astrology but also extends beyond by giving methods which are not to be found even in such celebrated books as Brihat Jataka.

Though Punnasseri Neelakanta Sharma's Sanskrit text has been generally followed a manuscript traced at the Oriental Library, Madras, has also been made use of.  Some verses in the former have been omitted and some in the latter included.

As earlier indicated the author of Prasna Marga appears to have been a scholar of 13 exceptional merits not only in different aspects of astrology proper but also in such collateral subjects as omens and mantra sastra. Diagnosing from the horoscope the nature of disease and the "spirits" responsible, and prescription of remedies are an important aspect of Prasna Marga.

Today some "men of science" may smile at the author's tracing different types of insanity to "possession" by evil spirits. To rid the world of mental illness is surely the most ancient aspiration. In this our author is not alone. Some of the western thinkers have started believing in ghosts, possession etc., as causing abnormal behaviour as the various therapies employed by neuro surgeons cannot be the answer to a fight against insanity. It is on record that many persons suffering from such mental troubles (some of them seemingly incurable) have been helped by mantra sastra.

According to ancient thought, whatever be the modern jargon-schizophrenia, catatonia, dissociation, paranoia, reactive and endogenous depression, melancholia, maniac depressive psychosis — insanity is caused not only by organic factors but also by 'spirits' or disincarnate beings. All the modern medical magic has not been found enough to cure insanity. Hence the ancient teachings cannot be ignored as out of date.

How to Worship Mother Saraswati in the Sri Chakra

It is important to take a complete bath or shower before starting the puja. Put on new or freshly cleaned white clothes. Silk or cotton is especially good. If wearing a sari or dhoti with a gold border, the gold thread will help to retain the blessings and energy of the puja in your subtle body. In your puja room or meditation area, sit facing east. Place a picture of Sri Saraswati Devi in front of you, and place your Sri Chakra in front of that on a silver or brass plate. Avoid steel and plastic as far as possible.

Sri Chakra Abhishekam with Samputita Sri Suktam

First, keep a ghee lamp on the altar, and keep it lit throughout the entire puja. Offer two or three sticks of incense by lighting them and waving them gently in a clockwise direction. You may also offer food, or naivedyam, like rice pudding made with milk and sugar, milk khova, or plain milk.  Then, chant Samputita Sri Suktam while offering milk or panchamruta to the Sri Chakra. Panchamruta is an auspicious mixture of milk, yogurt, cow ghee, honey and sugar. Try to use whole, organic dairy products. When finished, you may wash the Sri Chakra with pure water.

Japa of Sri Maha Saraswati Mantra
Next, place a silver or brass plate on the altar, fill it with white rice, cover it with a pure white silk or cotton cloth to make a soft seat, and place the Sri Chakra on it. Chant the  Sri Maha Saraswati Mantra 1008 times:

(Mantra - Initiation from Guru is required)

As you chant this powerful Saraswati Mantra, you can offer white sandalwood powder, uncooked white rice grains, silver flowers, or white flower petals to the Sri Chakra. You can also offer white pearls or crystal beads. After finishing the puja, offer harati with five or seven ghee flames or a single camphor flame by waving them gently in a clockwise direction in front of the Sri Chakra. The food you have offered is now highly blessed and charged with divine energy, so you should make sure to eat some and share it with family, friends, or pets. Prasadam that can't be finished should be placed outside in a natural place (not the garbage).

In order to obtain the fruits of this puja, you must try to offer your worship with devotion, a pure mind, and single-pointed concentration. Do not leave your seat or take a rest in the middle of chanting the mantra. It is very important not to get up or talk to anyone in the middle, so please make sure that you can complete the puja undisturbed. Have firm faith that you will definitely receive the blessings of Jagan Mata, the Mother of the Universe.

If possible, one can do the puja during all nine days of Navaratri. On Vijayadasami, the tenth day which follows Navaratri, pray to Divine Mother to grant success in all your endeavors. Through this special worship of the Sri Chakra, you can certainly attain the divinely auspicious grace of Sri Saraswati Devi.
